GUJARATI SCHOOL

The Gujarati School has been running for over 20 years and is held at Shree Bharatiya Mandal. The school enlists students above the age of 8 and caters for all abilities. Our teachers, who are DBS certified, teach at a high standard to ensure their students learn in a safe and welcoming environment.

We currently run classes for Balpothi, Stages 1-4, GCSE and Adult. All of our GCSE students from the past 10 years have achieved a grade A-C pass rate. Teaching is carried out according to the national curriculum requirements for Modern Foreign Languages and the annual examinations for Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing, are conducted in strict examination conditions according to the Pearson examining board. Students learn Gujarati through project work, role play, drama, games and other classroom activities.

Learning Gujarati is important for a number of reasons:

-Enables children and adults to communicate with those family and friends who find it difficult to speak in English
-Allow easier travel across Gujarat, India, communicating with the locals to understand the culture and heritage
– Becoming bi-lingual strengthens cognitive abilities
– Obtaining a Gujarati GCSE increases the chances of applying to colleges and universities, as well as providing greater access to job opportunities.

Along with the teachers, the school is managed by Headteacher, Mrs Chetanaben Bhatt-Shah and administered by Naliniben Mistry. The classes are spread across three terms and consists of a yearly charge of £75 or £25 per term.
